Noryon Antivirus Pro How To Uninstall NortonIn fact this is exactly the kind of site and test results, that vendors DON'T want you to see, even the ones that do well on the test (because no product is 100%).I am posting this to support the Mac Community. The fact that the product rankings change constantly AND that the results are very specific and listed in detail, further support that this site and the tester are very objective. Historical results are maintained so you can compare over time, and you do see product results change with each test (done every month to every 3 months depending on whether there are any new reported malware in the field, and a sample can be obtained for testing).Could anybody tell me how to uninstall Norton Antivirus (and all its varied components) from my Macbook Pro running MacOS High Sierra Thanks a lot.I've done a bit of research on the site and tester, to make sure it was not one of those 'sponsored' sites by a vendor that are made to appear as objective, neutral reviews.A great engine can be crippled if the database is not updated in a timely manner. Remember, an A/V product rests on two main things, the scanning engine AND the malware database. You WILL see trends, with some products consistently doing well and others not so much, and some moving up and down. If after doing some research and being advised not to use MacKeeper, someone still chooses to do so, then you can't help that, but hopefully it wasn't because there wasn't information available. My aim is not to support or dissuade anyone about a particular product, you pick / use or don't use whatever product you want, and live with the consequences, just remember that your decision can effect others, by virtue of whether you are part of stopping the spread, or being a part of it.I highly recommend you don't just look at the current results, but look at the past ones as well. For example, if someone uses MacKeeper because they don't know better, then in some ways the community failed for not getting the word out. Education and information is the best defense, (as with so many things in life). When I got to NAV I discovered that the original (last downloaded) installer does not work with 10.6 even with Rosetta installed. I had a HD failure and decided to take the opportunity to do a complete reinstall on my mac. I have done yearly subscription updates (like an idiot) since then. This site only ONLY addresses virus detection results, it does not in general make any conclusions or post results regarding performance, installation, support, UI, etc.I purchased NAV 11 back in 2008. Format a external harddrive for mac and windowsI need to install the software as I am not going to purchase a new sub unless I know it I can install the software. OK I get that the subscription is only good for a year but I am not talking about the subscription. Big Mistake!!!The guy began by explaining that the "software" only last 1 year. (Code: 10)""System extension cannot be used. Please run LiveUpdate or reinstall Norton AntiVirus and restart. Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect could not continue. And I cannot download a fix because the utility that downloads such things is what needs to be fixed! Nor can I find a fix to download from the Norton or Symantec websites, which are possibly the worst customer support websites in the software industry. Here are the two alert notifications NAV gave after I tried repeatedly to uninstall and reinstall it:"Norton AntiVirus Error. With those two components dead, Norton Antivirus 11 is now COMPLETELY USELESS. Auto-Protect automatically scans my system in the background looking for viruses when I am on the Internet, downloading email, or using any kind of external disk. After many frustrating years using Norton products on my Macs I am furious as ever with this company.I have posted reviews before ripping this company (and they were justified) and now I have another. After purchasing Norton AV 9.0 for my Mac I had to go through Norton's "Rebate Dance" to get the promised rebate. Minor gripe.Norton (as a company) still sucks. Absence of Cocoa toolbars). While the need is slim for Mac AV products, NAV 11 seems to be a viable contender.Granted, I've only used it for a day but in that day there has been 6-8 hours of use involving having multiple Adobe CS3 apps running during a scan and performance has not suffered.Only negative is that the interface, while greatly improved, is still not entirely "Mac-like" (i.e. I am not worried about getting viruses on my Mac but appreciate the increased level of PC virus detection in NAV 11.It's Universal, it's much faster than NAV 10, and in a day's testing it doesn't seem to have any performance hit on a 2.16 GHz C2D MacBook.Especially considering Symantec's past history with Mac products, it seems that they've finally put out a decent product with NAV 11. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product's vendor for an update."Systems Info: Late 2006 Intel Core2Duo 2.16 GHz 20" iMac with 2 GB RAM, and Late 2008 Intel Core2Duo 2.4 GHz Unibody MacBook with 4 GB RAM, both now running OS 10.5.7.While the need for Mac antivirus software is minor compared to in the Windows world, I installed NAV 11.0 Universal in order to have one more layer of safeguarding since I receive and pass along many files from Windows PC users, many of which are not tech-savvy. NORTON and only NORTON will not accept this. Even though it shows everything needed and states the rebate on the register receipt. I have used this duplicate receipt many times in the past for rebates from other companies and have never had a problem with it. They are good enough to give a Duplicate Receipt for anything that they sell that has a receipt. I purchased my update from Fry's Electronics in Phoenix. How in the am I supposed to do that. All I can say is NEVER AGAIN NORTON. But since I don't have any of the items required any more (since I had to send in the originals) and they did not give me ANY reference numbers to resubmit to. Now I don't have them any more they tell me I can RESUBMIT. Even though I had sent them the FOUR ORIGINAL items they requested. ![]()
